マイアミビーチには、ちょっと「やり過ぎ」なホテルがいくつかあります。そうしたホテルは全体的にデザイン過剰な建物をシリアスな雰囲気で何とかしようとして、かえってちぐはぐな印象を与えています。ところが幸運なことに、そうした派手さを意識的に演出しているホテルがひとつあります。それがPelican Hotel。これ見よがしにけばけばしい容貌はウォーホールの絵のよう。「これは夢だ」と分かって見ている夢と同じように、いっそ割り切ってそのいたずら心に溢れた装いを楽しむのも一興です。
こうした演出はファッショングループのDieselならでは。古風なファッション企業のホテルなら、壁紙をブランドのロゴで飾り扉やテーブルなどに自社のラベルを刻印するところでしょう。しかしDieselはもっとドラマチックチックなアプローチを取っていて、客室はそれぞれ、斬新なDieselにふさわしいCMやポスターの撮影現場を思わせる内装になっています。
